Hey everyone, it seems that Square-Enix has paused the production of their games in the mobile department.

In the latest press conference, Square Enix's President Yoichi Wada was talking about the development of Dragon Quest IX, but later had bad news. Yoichi Wada brought up the conflict on the mobile games, claiming that production has been suspended on the recent major titles.

In the press conference Yoichi Wada explained "Development of the titles has experienced over 3 billion in loss of appraisal. A review of the development system was performed and determined that the timing is unsuitable for the mobile department to be working on the networking games being developed for major titles, therefore production has stopped."

This bad news can be hard for KH fans, especially since the hype was there at the Tokyo Game Show 2007. Kingdom Hearts: Coded may now be a suspended title, but there's no confirmed information on which selected titles are affected. In the mean time, we'll have to see what actually happens as we get close to the supposedly summer releases for Coded and 358/2 Days.

With all of this negative information at the press conference, do you think that the Kingdom Hearts series could be in trouble? To vote in our poll, you must be a member at our fourms. Once you are a member, just click the link "Discussion & Comments" to put your vote in.

That's all for now...

Ahh first vote.

But back to this topic; No I don't believe theKH franchise itself are in danger, just the mobile games they would develop, just because they cost more to make than they are worth. So in making a cellphone game they are losing more money than they gain.

I have much hope for BBS and 358/2 days.

yeah I agree, its just mobile titles, they might actually be gaining money by not making them and this also means they will have more time to focus on BBS and 358!

if they were to throw away the KH franchise then they would be losing a great portion of money!
so no, I beleive kingdom hearts is fine, but mobile games are screwed!

and who cares, mobile games suck!
look at how KH: Mobile turned out!
coded was nothing and it will seem like it never even came up!
so have ye no fear, 358/2 is on the way, and i'm freakin importing that soon as its released biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif ph34r.gif

No, KH series isn't in trouble. Mobile games are Japan Only, so it wouldn't affect any where outside of Japan.
Narnia's Keyblade
No, I think it's only for mobile games. I don't think they'd pull the plug on major titles like 358/2 Days and Bbs
Churro
Hopefully it's not, looking forward to Coded.

Nah, KH is fine... it's one of the top selling Franchises now so I don't see it suffering much from this possible loss....

Besides, honestly I don't much care if Coded is out or not... I had no intention of playing it anyway, in fact I'd all but dismissed it completely as I don't play mobile games and they don't usually come out in the US anyway. No pain for me...

Besides, more money away from half hearted mobile games that have nothing to do with the actual story means more money towards development and marketing which I am ALL for.

Yeah, Kh is in no trouble. I wouldn't mind playing a cell phone game though, IF it were to be released over-seas, which I doubt. Foreign cell phone carriers are too primitive compared to Japanese ones. I mean, if enough effort was put into a port to US carriers it might work, but it is doubtful.

Can't wait for 358 though! happy.gif

Just because they temporarily stopped production on a single(and least anticipated)Kingdom Hearts title doesn't mean that the rest of the series will have any future problems, so no.

who said yes?
kero8
ne, we'll be fine. It's just one game out of three.
kinda sucks, though. i was looking forward to coded, but now i can only get 358/2. i really don't see the point of buying a psp for one game.
Captain Goofy
I was personally betting that Coded would be an international iphone title for several reasons that made sense (which I don't have enough typing room to explain at the moment in one entry) and if it was I had wanted to see it. Oh well, maybe later.. I'm just glad BBS and KH3 haven't been cancelled.
Hun Dark Riku
Aww, I won't get to play a mobile KH game? Or an English version of FFIV: The After, which has the story quality of a fanfic? Or a disgraceful, mobile sequel to Parasite Eve?

Gee, I wonder why I'm not killing myself right now.

The cancellation of "coded" hardly puts the KH series in trouble, it's already among the ranks of The After and even Before Crisis in the fact that it will see release within a couple of years. *coughrememberhowoldBCisagain?cough*

A solution to this would be to port it, but I highly doubt that SE's looking at that option.
Paradise
I probably wasn't even gonna play Coded anyway, so no problem on that. But I can't imagine them actually going through to suspend 385/2 or BbS.

well my mmisguided friend, I would suggest buying a PSP for several reasons:

KH BBS
FF I
FF II
FF Tactics
FFVII: Crisis Core

all of these games are freakin awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i dont think that coded would have made much money anyway it was on mobile if it was on ds or psp it would make more money

This is good news no one in the U.S. wants to play on their phone. I don't like how some games change major systems midway. Take the game for example Oddworld it started on PS1 made 2 games then went to xbox made 2 new games . so players on both halfs are robbed. old fans don't get to play the new games and new fans don't get to play the old games. In Kingdom Hearts case it is a story game having half the story is not OK. Now I know KH BBS is a PSP game while it's still not right some can point out that PSP and PS 3 are not the home system they are still parts to the bigger PS. ideally all could be shared just at slower time rates.
Empath
making a mobile game was a pretty stupid idea
who the hell plays on a fucking cell phone
seriously
Jadentheman
I aways thought coded was a filler in the KH series department so even if S-E decided to discontinue it it would not affect the KH series at all.

well, you know you're probably right but, as far as I've heard no matter what system that game was for it was gonna suck...

who ever wrote that it was a filler game slightly above me was right...

so to hell with coded! lets keep on lookin out for Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 days this FRIGGIN SUMMER!
Dibship
Yeah, Coded looks good, but let's face it- the mobile's capabilities aren't that great, so I don't think it will seel immensely well. 358/2 Days, on the other hand...

I agree with everybody. Coded never seemed too important, but the others will do fine.
