After numerous rumors, Square Enix have finally confirmed that Kingdom Hearts - RE:Chain of Memories will be heading to North America later this year.

If you're not already aware, KH: RE:CoM is a 3D Remake (for Playstation 2) of the original Chain of Memories for the Game Boy Advance. It was released in Japan as part of KH2: Final Mix+ early last year.

KH: Re:Chain of Memories will be available to purchase at a price of $29.99 (USD). The release date is set for December 2nd of this year. As of now, there is no confirmation whether or not the game will be released in other territories.

Just Tony here to say that the official Square Enix North American Members Blog has updated to show off the game's cover (albeit still as an ERSB Rating Pending version). Re-using the artwork from the website, its a nice, clean, and simple cover that works really well in my opinion.

Awhile ago I sent Square-Enix the petition with (back then) 10,000 signatures from people here wanting Re:CoM to come here and I told them that they were disappointing a lot of fans and all that junk.

It's no surprise to me that they'd release it. It's a quick and easy way for Square to make cash, which is something they are probably running low on since both FF13 console games are draining the company.

I am curious about the voice actors though, specifically the Japanese voice actors. From my understanding of Re:COM the entire game wasn't dubbed in Japanese, only certain sections so can anyone tell me which characters spoke in the Japanese version as I'd be interested in knowing who could come back (other than the obvious choices of Sora and Riku).

Basically, the "new" characters were voiced in the Japanese version. IE - none of the Disney characters, or Final Fantasy characters. Only Sora, Riku, and scenes with the Organisation & Naminé were voiced.

Finally, I was waiting for this, I always wanted to hear the voice for Zexion =]. I already own Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+, I play Re:CoM all the time, KHIIFM+ is cool, I only wanted to face Roxas, and the others data, and E.S., But I wonder if the NA ReCoM will have "Theater Mode"? just curious

Oooh, good point... Surely it will.
If not, they'll have a least two unhappy customers.

Big fan of theatre modes, and think all games with over an hours worth of cutscenes should have 'em.
But hey, that's personal opinion.

It just have to come to europe too. it is so annoying that Europe gets almost everything last. of course Japan would be first, but coulden't they ship it to US and Europe at the same time, i mean they are both English versions, so it woulden't be so hard.

I'm sorry to say that this annoucement give me no excitement whatsoever. It's juat another example of everyone outside of Japan getting screwed over again as far as I'm concerned by not releasing the FM games. If the FM games were just simple extra fights, then I can live with it. But when it's extra story we're missing out on (like the FM games have), then it really does get my back up. Especially when optional content in KH:FM is referenced in the very first scene of KH2. It adds to that scene to have seen it beforehand in KH:FM. Releasing them with Re:CoM would have been a prefect opportunity that they've just wasted and it's left me angry at them.

That's exactly how I feel, but I'm still going to buy RE:COM. They should at least add something new to this version besides 4 new minigames. It's only fair.

Oh I'll still buy it as well at some point (I do actually have FM+ and am currently on a KH play run atm so will play my Japanese Re:CoM since the US version will come out too late for my current play run. Plus I want the unlocks for KH2:FM anyway). It just angers me at how we're getting only half the package.

You got to remember...
Final Mix games are ONLY released for Japan. It's not released in China, NA, Europe, Australia and etc. It's just how it is. I don't know what the point is, but I guess they feel they owe it to themselves. Point is, we won't see a Final Mix, at least not anytime soon...

It’s actually being debated weather they should or not. They've already got so many emails about it, but it's not making the case go faster. They easily get ticked off.

Yah, Hopefully, cause i was reading what the press release announcment said, and Theater Mode poped in my head. I was like it better have it so we can watch the scenes over again. Im so totally in CoM mode right now, im Playing my ReCoM right now, well er.. the Import xD

I'd lost hope that they'd ever release this. I'm glad they are, but it seems like it'd be easier to just release Final Mix while they're at it. More people would probably buy it, and they could charge more. It wouldn't kill the Japanese to share.

Meh, I already have the Japanese version. I may or may not pick it up. I didn't like the Japanese version, but that could be because I didn't understand it, even having played the original. I'm split.

I'm also split on whether or not they should bring over the FM part. It'd be neat, but then that'd mean I got the Japanese version and all that stuff for nothing, and that's already being cut into from this.

Yah, The GBA version didnt really catch my attetion, but eh, the reason why I didnt like cause, I was facing the last Riku you face, and He wouldnt DIE!!, but out of no where couple of days later, my file go deleted, and I never knew how =[, so im like screw this im not gonna do all that work ALL over again, even tho i tried to. But then I finally beat, which was a pain to me cause I was little back than, Im at lvl 99 Sora, and Lvl 78 Riku.

But I beat Re:Chain of Memories no problem, even tho I didnt understand it at all, But still it was fun and I just loved the voices as well. Well actually the only problem I got stuck on was trickmaster *Riku Story*, How they already have your deck of cards ready, but He keep killing me, till I beat him xD.
But Yah, and Ansem was a pain at first.

it is good to know that it will be esier to beat (i am stuck on the last riku battle now) but who cares im gona sell it tommarrow and by new games

Well it depends on the player tho. I Sucked on GBA game tho. Im way more skilled on Ps2 games, so its just depends plus it has mode like Beginnier mode, Standard Mode, and Proud Mode

What are the chances of this coming with some sort of patch for the additional material featured in KHII:FM?

*SCREAMS* Its coming out on my birthday!!!! I can't wait! Now my brother knows what to get me!! I'm so happy! Can't wait to hear the game! Either they:
Got a new voice actor for Sora (unlikely)
Used a machine to make it sound younger (possible, look at Aang in Avatar)
Didn't care and just used KH2's voice (possible)

Hearing this news excites me, I've been waiting for RE:COM for years. Finally I get to hear the voiceovers of the last 6 Organization Members. Although I think that they are releasing RE:COM to America because they wanna "keep us distracted" while Japan gets 358/2 Days around the same time.

It took them 6 months after the US release of KH2 to bring it to Europe.

I don't mean to sound rude, but are you forgetting who voices Sora? Hayley Joel Osment, the guy from A.I and Sixth Sense, Hayley Joel Osment was a child prodegy for acting. So it wouldn't be surprising if he had KH1 Sora's voice.

Wouldn't it be funny if the U.S. release had a bunch of material that was not included in the original KHII:FM+ package, thereby inspiring a Japanese re-release including C.oM. and a PS2 version of 358/2 Days?
