Hey everyone, just Tony here to quickly update you on whats been going on the last few days as to regards to the virus warnings people have been experiencing, mostly to explain to you why over 200 pages of news have just mysteriously disappeared.
As some of you may already be aware, nearly 3 weeks ago we had a problem with a virus having been detected here on Kingdom Hearts Ultimania, and since then there have been several attempts to remove it, mostly thanks to the amazing work by Damien (who doesn't nearly get enough credit for his work here), and Shay, who kindly allowed her computer to be put at risk in order to try and solve the mystery, with Gaia backing Shay up on the virus-detecting front.
Patient detective work led to us discovering that the problem seemed to be stemming from the software we use to provide you with the news, and since then Damien has performed several attempts to update the whole system whilst still being able to keep the file with all the news. This has unfortunately not worked so far, and so we have decided that our best option is to completely overwrite the old system, thereby wiping out the 4 year history of Kingdom Hearts Ultimania news, though I made a quick backup of the last 5 posts (ie the most recent stories), and have reposted them for you, just so that there is something for you all to look at until we can build up a whole record of news, from scratch again.
It seems this has fixed the situation, Shay is detecting zero viruses, but at the moment we're not getting too excited. The next few days are going to be crucial, with the whole anti-virus-news-fixing-crew prepared to try and sort anything out as it may crop up. Assuming we've managed to fix the error, we do hope to be able to bring back the old news in some way, if not directly to our news feed here, then at least as some kind of browsable archive. Unfortunately, we can't make any promises on this front, but believe us, we want it back as much as you probably do.
I just felt that, as visitors to this site, you all deserved to know what was going on, and why we were doing it, and I can only hope you understand the measures we've had to undertake in order to try and keep Kingdom Hearts Ultimania a safe place for you all to come to. We recommend that Kingdom Hearts Ultimania visitors perform a virus check on their computers, just to make sure that their own hard drives haven't been tampered with, though it seems the virus in question has been picked up automatically by most virus blockers, and is also incredibly easilly removed if it has infected your computer, so there isn't any need to panic.

That being said, I hope none of you tried to install 'Microsoft Incorporations' thing. Also, don't be afraid to notify us immediately if something else pops up. It's our job to do stuff like that.
We're so sorry this happened. :/
But, three cheers for Damien, yeah?

Lemme ask you staff something. Can any one from the staff or anyone that has a good enough rank can go and write about the new updates/news on the homepage? can they also delete the updates and the news do the staff have an option like that? If so you think anyone got miss treated here, or get recently upset that they couldnt do anything? I might sound like an idiot but im curious, isnt a virus created by people, cause I was once told that viruses cannot be created by itself, if so than someone could of ruin this site. but probably over 200 pages of updates/New cannot be deleted by 1 person with out people noticing. but just a thought, cause it obivously couldnt of started out of no where, If you heard about Russia put a version in the Broswer of Fire Fox, Fire fox screwed my internet up the other day, and all my other broswer. it just a thought tho. but cannot be started all by itself. so yah, But I havent got any pops up or nothing, Adobe stuff poped up and freezes my WHOLE broswer before, but it happen only once or twice after it happen every time. but yah, Opera is a good broswer it scans the page before you go yo the site, something will pop saying it has a virus, or something attack your computer or something, but since than I got Opera didnt say anything about a virus detected.

And at first, people didn't believe me. Anyway, at least it's fixed now.
Edit: Uh oh, it's back again.
Okay: here's a bit of an update for you guys.
This thing is hard to get rid of, wtf! We update cutenews, switch servers, delete ALL of the news posts, change/block various advertisements, ON TOP OF deleting all the members who have access to cutenews minus Tony and Damien (the others have been added back, now. We just waited awhile to do it..) and it still comes back every time we try something.
Damien found that it keeps being re-attached to the news layout somehow, and we're beginning to think it's not a problem concerning just KHU afterall.
..So, in the mean time, PLEASE hang in there. And PLEASE be wary of the main page. Make sure you guys are protected, first and foremost.
We're so sorry this is happening - I can't apologize enough, I swear.
Just keep in mind that it will be taken care of as fast as possible. Please do not let this affect your activity on KHU. You are all amazing members, and believe it or not, all of this is for you.

weird I have been on all of khu since the reports of the first virus, and really I have never had any pop-ups or any viruses on my system. There has never been any problems with me, everything has worked safely for me.
huh random, but oh well...

Don't worry its not only you, if it wasn't for everyone else complaining about it, I wouldn't have known about it either XD
Although I know more about it now since I've been helping out with the removal of it when it shows up.

i am actually one of the people who does get the pop-ups and activex crap...I mean at first I downloaded and thought they were okay with no warning from my virus scanner until I did a full scan. I believe these viruses or trojans work under java....
P.S. just curious, how come the ip.board hasn't been updated to 2.3? lol

Well when it first started happening (before there was even a board about it) and it showed up, I had to search all my files for a virus. Never actually had one though. And, just to make sure, do we even have a virus or just annoying virus warnings.

i actually think it may just be a trojan attatched to annoying activex controls

Not getting any pop-ups would concern me more than getting them in the first place.
At least that way you'd know the virus had been detected.

agreed, i actually haven't been getting them in a while...so i guess that is good because I used to get them. I hope the viruses and trojans are finally gone...
