Chain of Memories Ratings 5 different game sites...

Here are some ratings I found for KH: CoM from 5 different sites.
Gamepro: 3.5/5 (7/10) "The card-based battle engine takes some time getting used to and feels awkward. It's difficult to really plan your attack by scrolling through your deck while multiple enemies are pummeling you. Enemies tend to crowd you into corners where they'll negate your attacks, wear down your deck, and eventually destroy you. Also, the graphics suffer from low contrast and the effects are particularly pixilated. Conceptually, Chain of Memories is a good idea but when awkward hybrid gameplay meets plotlines based on afterthought ideas, it's just a perplexing mess."
Electronic Gaming Monthly: 7.6/10 "Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories has the same basic problems as its big PS2 brother. It's lovely to look at, tells a neat little story, and falls down somewhat when the time comes to actually play it. It's not a conventional action-RPG, and it should be applauded for the amount of ground it breaks, but there's still a few bugs to be worked out of its new ideas."
Game Informer: 7.75/10 "While it would have been nice to join Sora and company on a new adventure, it seems that Square would rather have us rekindle our fond memories until the sequel arrives. This is an enjoyable handheld, but like the direct-to-video Disney sequels, it just doesn’t have the magic of the original."
Gamespot: 7.7/10 "This game undeniably caters to existing fans of Kingdom Hearts, and those people will get the most out of Chain of Memories."
IGN: 8/10 "Fortunately, the negative elements aren't really enough to bring down the enjoyment of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. The production value alone is worth the price of admission, and even with repeat scenarios, a strategic combat system that turns into a button-masher, and surprisingly linear quest, this game has an engrossing storyline that actually changes up after the adventure comes to an end. So once it's over, it's not over, and that's adds a lot of value to an original quest that takes more than a dozen hours to complete. The company has already wowed us with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Final Fantasy 1& 2; very few developers put in the same effort that Square-Enix has for its first self-published Game Boy Advance title, Chain of Memories."
Average: 7.6/10

Well the card interface was a little hard to get used to......I don't know how many times i tried pressing r and l at the same time to load a card for a sleight, but soon after found out that my fingers didnt' synchronize my movement fast enough. As a result, it would shift to the next card in the deck, thus, screwing up my sleight. I would get royally pissed off.

An interesting read. I thought there were mixed opinions about the game but the professionals seem to have in-sync reviews. I wonder if they forget that this is the GBA, so of course, graphics aren't going to be omg-awesome. The plot is great, you just have to be a fan to appreciate it. I'd say these reviews are fair.

I'd agree with these ratings, I think the story was great and the graphics were good for the GBA, but I didn't like the card battle system at all.

I really can't believe that. It is a very solid game, with a good story line and good gameplay! At the few cgi cutscenes, the graphics are quite good. But what can you do about a hand held game with little memory compared to the major systems.
Oh, and X-Play gave it a four out of five. A rather good score for the game I believe.

*nod*
The cutscene in the beginning is not only good, but VERY good for GBA. The major beef is with the card system, it just isn't polished enough, and also with the general rehashing of worlds.

I'd say just about right. CoM is good, but it can slow down and get annoying(especially when trying to find the right card for the doors...)

EDIT: Whoops. Thought this thread was for the remake when it popped up on the "recent threads" in the CoM forum. =_=
This thread is a year old.

Overall, i think these are a bit higher than what i would have thought them to be. I was expecting a 6.5 about, average. Or maybe a 7. Oh well.
Oh... yes... a year old.
I didn't notice until i went through some more of the posts... but it would be an interesting thread for re:com.
