Oh, here's the source you wanted. I just pulled it from here real quick.
Yeah, I would have to go with Squeenix was being lazy at the time, and all that. But I think there could be another reason... I'm going with the vengeful member. Axel maybe? It seems plausible, or at least I think it does.
Gah, the speculation continues... Nomura made a plothole for himself.

Oh yeah :/
Ughh.... Nomura hides to many things from us >__>
Everything in nothing, I suppose.
For instance, the way Nomura is constantly going (basically): "Check this out- it's gonna be cool, but I'm not gonna tell you what it is." Keychainless Keyblades, Deep Dive, Roxas, etc. (Of course we find out eventually, but until then, I mean.)
Kingdom Hearts is the one game with the most speculation, maybe in the history of video games.

well, Vexen kind of decided to sic Replica Riku on Zexion, so maybe this was Vexen also making a stab at Zexion?
However, if not Vexen, then Axel.

I am with you!
Here's my theory on why: After Marluxia died and stuff, and Axel and Zexion were the only ones left, Axel knew that Zexion knew about Vexen, and how Axel betrayed too. Not wanting to have that affect his standings in the Organization (however you want to word it), Axel got rid of him to dispose of any evidence.
Then for the grave theory: Hmm... you know I honestly don't know. Maybe Axel just doesn't like him.
EDIT: Just saw above quote.
Vexen didn't sic the Riku Replica on him. Though I do get the feeling him and Zexion aren't really fond of each other. It seems evident from their first conversation. It's possible, if only for the fact Vexen didn't die before Zexion.

But being serious now-
I think Axel made the Riku Replica kill Zexion because he doesn't like him because of something that happened between the two and for what you (XxZexionxX) said but yours sounds alot more logical to me.
And if Vexen hated Zexion in any way I guess it would be of competition between the two on whos better at experiments or something since
I know my theorys are stupid but thats what were doing now right? Speculating and theories one after the other :D

Vexen and Zexion: That's what I'm guessing. Both of them were mentioned in the Secret Ansem Reports, and both seemed to be regarded by Ansem the Wise. Maybe Vexen was mad because he was the youngest apprentice. I honestly don't know. But I think we're going to be speculating for a while.

A "Jiminy's Journal" hmm? Definitely sounds plausible. And stuff about Terra and co. Definitely sounds good.
More theories!

Didn't Nomura say in one of his interviews that Zexion's book contains important information on some people? I'm also sure that he also said that at the current time he can't reveal who the book has information on and what information it has...
That was a cruel, cruel April Fools joke, nothing more. Nomura never said anything.
I dunno. I kinda want the book to hold some importance. I mean... otherwise it just seems silly keeping it under wraps for so long simply because we didn't see it in CoM.
