In KHI she knew because she hung around Leon, who was investigating the heartless, due to the destruction of his homeland(aka Hollow Bastion). I understood it then. But in CoM, Aerith and Sora have that conversation at the end of the Traverse Town level, and Donald and Goofy didn't see it. I seems like a trick to me.
Don't forget, Sora's exploring his memories which have been twisted by Namine... So that might just be a reason. Other than that, didn't Donald and Goofy walk off the screen at that part?

You mean where Aerith says, "Beware of your memories. Don't let illusions distract you from what's really important." that part?
Sora and the others were having conversations about memories and such, so it didn't just come outta nowhere. It was a warning based on what Aerith feels is happening.
Aerith has sixth sense about these things. Even though she's Sora's memory, it seems like all the characters who are part of his memory are able to act independently. It's comparable to the inhabitants of data Twilight Town, who are based on existing personalities yet perform actions that are not predetermined.

Hmm...Never thought of it that way...but in Twilight Town, while they all did have individual personalities, Ansem would still do little things to make sure Roxas was kept from knowing the truth.
Such as stop time. But that didn't affect those people's personalities. I mean, no matter what happened, I bet Olette, Hayner and Pence would have wanted to go to the beach with Roxas. DiZ altered events so they would decide for themselves that they couldn't go to the beach-DiZ cannot control their decisions.
It's the same situation in CoM. Sora is hopping around the rooms and those rooms are taking the form of his memories, so when he leaves a world, he's back in the white rooms.

Leon knew alot of information, as well. So it couldn't have been a coincidence that Aerith knew too much; Leon could've passed on the knowledge about all the events that took place in the KH games.
Yea, he's a big mouth, that Leon. lol.
Good for him. In KH, that makes Leon a rather useful guy.

Aerith was always insightful anyway, and the FFVII role does help it make sense... =\

i only scanned over this, but i dont think anyone said anything about aeris (ff7 diehard) being an ancient and that she has semi-psychic powers. sooo, explination that being?
Yes I played Final fantasy VII, but in the KH world I don't think the tale of Ancients and Jenova, really exist. Cloud hunts Sephiroth becuase of his past, but in the game they make it because that Sephiroth is Cloud's darkness not because of Aerith's death and a lot of other things....
P.S. it was always supposed to be Aerith. Aeris was a translation error.
