I would think that the game is just a remake of KHI for the Gameboy. Not bad, but probably wouldn't keep my interest long enough for me to finish it.

It would have been KH1 at the core, just with a different story. I think it would've sold more because more people would complete it and tell others how much fun it was.

Well, I personally didn't care for the whole fighting-with-cards thing. The storyline was great, but having to pick the right combos of cards and stuff kinda took away from the game (at least that's what I thought). There still could've been cards to unlock levels (here, you beat this challenge, you can move on now).

I agree, I didn't really like the fighting with cards. I think it would have been much better if it was just the normal fighting system.

I think the card system made it an unusual gameplay; so I like it with cards.

It would've been better with a stylus.

It would've been like a normal KH game except it would be on the GBA.

It would be quite difficult to pull something like that off, especially for the GBA.
How would one be able to access the battle menu? Would there have to be a shortcut system? Would the gameplay have to be paused? Would it have to be more like a turn-based RPG?

Honestly, I didn't mind the card battle system because it still kept the main essence of the Kingdom Hearts series -- which is action.

The KH series is, after all, an action RPG. I wouldn't want it any other way.

What would it be like without cards as its main battle essential? Less of a nightmare.

If it didn't have cards it would've been somewhat easier I guess but like other people have suggested in here it would be mostly just a remake of KH for the GBA in some ways.

with cards: more strategy.
without cards: more hack n slash
take your pick.

possible controls if it had been sans cards...

A - attack
B - jump
D-pad - duh
L - hold for magic shortcut menu
R - lock on _or_ summons
start - duh
select - full magic menu

something like that.

Without cards? About the same.

The card system was a strange, but unique, way of playing that was harder in some ways but completely balanced with card breaking. Card breaking stops attacks and opens a good window of time where they're stunned and you can unleash your combo. Really lessens the urgency of healing when you don't take damage.

I think without the cards some of the storyline would have to be messed around with. It just wouldn't me KH:Chain of Memories then. (In my opinion)

i agreee that the crad system was intersting, but it wasnt really for me, i didnt really enjoy it (hence smashing my DS against a wall and breaking it)
i think it would have been better done just as fighting, or even if they couldnt do that some final fantasy 7 style battleing with the ATB.

I like the card system.
I think the game would've been easier if the battle system was similiar to KH1's.

I didn't mind the cards. It made CoM stand out because if it wasn't there it would have just been a rehash of Kingdom Hearts 1.

I agree with that. When it first came out, it was completely different. Different choice in gaming system, different main plot idea (memories vs. hearts; though hearts still played a part or it probably wouldn't be Kingdom Hearts tongue.gif), and different battle system.

I still love this game. wub.gif

That wasn't a very good idea tongue.gif
I liked the card system, it added more stratedgy to your typical hack n slash. without it, it would have been a remake of KH1 and not worth buying.

I think the card system was an overrall good idea. It created a balance between new and old content (considering the bulk of the gameplay was of Sora's memories). This game was meant to stand out it seems, not only with the battle system, but the story itself. It seemed to take itself more seriously as a dark game, at least to me. Overall it was a good addition, yet difficult one to get used to. It might be fun without it, but, I like it the way it is.

I thought the card system ruled! A CoM Game without cards would be lame.

well without the card game would make it similar to the first kingdom hearts so it wouldnt be too bad unless yu hated kingdom hearts in general
