There seems to be a lot of concern surrounding whether or not some scenes from Re:CoM will be censored/changed between the transition from Japan to America. I'm wondering how much I should be worried, and I'm approaching it like this:

How much was changed/censored in KH1&2? And what were they?

In KH2, there wasn't all that much stuff from what I could see that was changed. I'll list off what was censored/changed (somebody point out something else if I miss it):

1: The Hydra battle. There was suppose to be blood from the Hydra's necks, but the ESRB decided to censor that.

2: Xigbar's crossair (or whatever it's called). It was suppose to be a crossair for Xigbar's sniping, but the ESRB censored that, too. So, it got changed to three circles and three dots.

There might be more, I don't know, though.

In KH1, I don't really know.

As for Re: CoM, they might censor "hell", but highly doubt it since they did allow it in the original CoM. Other than that, I really can't find anything the ESRB would censor.

QUOTE(ESRB)
Rating summary: Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories is an action role-playing game (RPG) in which players explore different worlds, collect items and cards, and progress through levels by defeating various creatures (monkeys, jellyfish, flying hat mages, etc.) and boss characters. Players mostly use swords and magic to defeat enemies who sometimes groan then disappear into a mist of smoke when defeated. Players receive experience points and currency cards at the end of each battle. One cutscene depicts a clone who talks about his impending death as he slowly disintegrates.

They did not mention the mild language that was originally present, nor do they talk about the mad scientist that is supposed to burst into flames and vanish after begging for mercy.

So I can bet those were censored. : /

Don't forget many aspects of Port Royal were censored. The guns especially.

But if they screw up Vexen's death badly, I'll be pissed.

I despise overcensoring.

I didn't notice that. >_>

I'll be pissed, too, if they screw up Vexen's death. That was freaking OWNAGE in the Japanese version.

To be honest, the only death I actually cared about was Replica's.

Watch and be amazed!

It will definitely be interesting to see what they do censor and what they don't. If they censor the deaths, particularly Vexen's and Zexion's, I'm not going to be happy. I'm with you Xag-- I hate overcensoring. I wouldn't be surprised if they did, however.

I was mad enough at all the censoring in KHII; way too much of it. I don't think they censored anything in KHI that I know of. If they censor RE:CoM, then I'll really pissed. Vexen and Zexion had pretty good death scenes in both versions, and Axel's line was pretty good. I really don't see any reason to censor those.

I don't see anything in Zexion's death worth censoring, so I wouldn't worry about that-

Now Vexen...eh...

I hope that they don't censor the death scenes.
Alot of people wanted to see Zexions death in 3D.
(Or at all)
I don't think that other countries should get a lesser version of the game.

(I hate censorship...)

Zexion's, Larxene's, Marluxia's, Replica's and Lexaeus' are completely harmless. So, they won't be edited in anyway. Vexen's might be edited.

But, Square will get a cookie if they actually reedited the scene to the way it was in the GBA version, wishful thinking, I know.

Wow, Monkeys, Jellyfish Flying Hat Mages. Makes Kingdom Hearts feel like a kiddy game again ( Don't tell me you didn't get that impression too!).

Chances are, Vexen will die in a flash of light, followed by an inferno. When the flames clear, Vexen will be gone.

Since, seeing someone burst into flames can corrupt children's minds, you know. rolleyes.gif

I think it would be rather ridiculus of them to censor Re:CoM, considering they already released the original here. If it wasn't enough to bother censoring the first time, why bother now?

I remember in the GBA version, Axel said something to the effect of "This better be one hell of a show". I don't remember seeing this in Re:CoM at all. Was this in the Japanese version? Did this get censored out too?

The script was changed to match the Japanese lip sync. That's pretty much all there is to it. =/

The edits weren't even that serious to begin with. We still have the overall product and I refuse to believe Disney had anything to do with the editing/censoring.
