Ok so the biggest thing that's struck me so far is that I've APPARENTLY been pronouncing some of the never verbalized names incorrectly. NOW with this game finally putting a voice and a sound to each unspoken character I hear names that I didn't know were said that way... The two so far that have supprised me are:

Larxene and Marluxia

Now, up until this point I'd been pronouncing Larxene: Lark-Sin not Lark-seen as it's supposed to be.

That one's surely just an error in paying attention to the name's writing.... but the one that really got me was Marluxia!

I'd always pronounced it Mar-luck-see-ya But now I find that it's actually pronounced Mar-loo-she-ya

I was stunned... Stunned at my not realizing that's how you'd say it, and stunnd that that's what they chose.

But I'm curious, am I the only person who's been saying the names wrong in her head? Or perhaps there are others out there...

They were pronounced back when the Japanese version came out, but even before that, I figured that reading how their names were sounded out in katakana would help me with any names I was confused about.

And of course I don't see why they needed to change to Sai-ex and Vehk-sin in the English version, different from the original.

I had the same problem. And I didn't look at the Japanese clips so I was thrown by how
they pronounced their names. My favorite nobody is Marluxia and I keep saying his name
all wrong.

Lexaeus--I thought it was pronounced "Lex-AY-us." Turned out to be "LEX-ee-us."
Zexion--I thought it was "ZEX-ee-ON." Turned out to be "ZEX-ee-un."

And of course, I always thought Marluxia's name was pronounced "Mar-LOOKS-ia."

...so, yeah, I had been mispronouncing a few names.

I still say Lexaeus the way you thought it was because that's how it's sounded out.

I still pronounce Marluxia mar-lux-ee-ah... heh. I'm so american. I like mar-loo-shi-ah better.

I also for some reason thought Zexion was actually Zexicon for a loooong time.

The only one I messed up was Marluxia. Mar-loosh-uh sounds kind of silly though.

Well it fits. The correct pronounciation is much smoother and less clunky, which fits a guy with flowers coming out of his hood and Shuichi Ikeda's voice.

I kinda wish Marluxia's voice actor in the US version were more... fitting....

Marluxia reminds me of Lucia from Lunar.... I always liked that name, but... I can't get over the way it's pronounced... I guess I'm not used to 'x' making a 'sh' sound....

yea i was on the luck-see-ya banwagon for ever, when they said his name i swear my jaw dropped, on a side note i find it sad, somewhat pathetic at Ansem's english VA.. i mean he might not even be that bad, but when you compare him to billy zane its just downright piss-poor voice acting

Yeah, he was. And, since there's obviously nothing they can do about BZ not coming back, he does as well as anyone who has to follow in the guy's footsteps. At least he's given a smaller and less important role at this point.

I used to call Marluxia, Mar-luu-eeaa, I was surprised it was Mar-lu-sha.

I haven't played any of the japanese games, so I didn't know.

Yeah, but I was referring more to future games, so maybe we won't have to hear him as much if at all (the original Xehanort had a different voice, thankfully).

I screwed up Marluxia's name too, not that I mind. I figure at least now I know how to pronounce it right. I got most of the other names right or close enough.

Not a whole lotta love for Richard Epcar's version of Ansem it seems. Personally, I don't mind, except that it always reminds me of Xenosaga (he played Ziggy in that series). He's a decent VA, plus I can't remember what the original Ansem sounded like anyways, it's been too long since I've played KH1 ^^;
