I don't really find Roxas very likable to be frank. Neither do I find Sora likable, especially in KHII. And oddly, the only character IN THE ENTIRE SERIES that I find interesting is DiZ.

Done to death? Sure, if you consider "done to death" as just him playing the tourist.

They just don't DO much with Sora with the time he has in all 3 games in the market currently. All they make him do is roam around different worlds just trying to find 1 - 2 people. Then, go "RAWR Organization! D<" They don't make him grow in any way, and there's a million ways to make him grow as a character without him making a complete 180. They save all that for Roxas and Riku. >_> Again, they're practically the writer's pets. And, with characters like that overshadowing him even with all the screen time he's given...is kind of sad.

Course, expecting Shakespeare out of KH is pretty foolish too. =/ Meh, I'm going in circles with this rant. [/ends rant there]

your right. Sora has the cheerful disposition and the no common sense mentality throughout the whole series. he never changes or developes, something that alot of people bash FF12 for the same thing. what Square needs is to put a really powerful villain in the third game, and have Sora fight him several times at the beginning, and make the battles unwinable, and then make Sora lose his overconfidence and gain doubt that he has to conquer in order to win in the end. Or something similar to make Sora question something, so that besides the story of fighting, there is a story of Sora looking for answers to a personal question

as for Roxas, i personally found him to be likeable. but thats probably just me. I like characters with problems like his, people who are quiet and constantly deep in thought. thats probably why i still like Cloud, even though everyone else thinks he is overrated and overused

Yes, but if they do that, they need to be really careful not to overdo it. There's plenty of other ways to make Sora likable, too. It doesn't even HAVE to be battles either. Just anything to make himself feel a bit more balanced. Like...I dunno, his naivety could be done in more comical ways instead of being the pure incentive for the villain of the day to poke at. Or at least have a different mind set than the said one (They could do that with the next installment he'll come in). Or maybe...get his hormones in order. XP

That way he could still stay the same and be likable. And, they won't have to make the character grow...TOO much. y'know what I'm saying?

*shrug* Worked for Big the Cat (and I used to hate him before Sonic Chronicles, granted the game isn't BioWare's best). Might as well work for Sora.

It's not just you.

Reason I'm indifferent about Roxas is that the entire aura he emitted in KHII felt too gloomy for my tastes, and I never had a moment where I cheered him on whenever he tried to do something or anything.
Spoiler

Cloud is a bit overrated, but the thing I respect him is that...>_>; well in FFVII he isn't what they represent him today. He's pretty darn arrogant, stuck in the fantasy that he thought up of himself. His thoughts are to himself, but he isn't too deep in his thoughts. Yeah, sure he wasn't outgoing at first, but once he started waking from that fantasy he started being his own man. Yeah, he went backwards in AC. And, the way they did it in AC made him unlikable. Just driving around in his motorcycle, doing...nothing but...well...dilly dallying, not even helping his own "family" at home. And KHII...er...yeah. dry.gif ACC gave off a different impression. But, I won't spoil it.

Also...one other thing. Sora was a douche at one point in CoM. He yelled at Donald and Goofy. YELLED. No one! I mean NO ONE yells at Donald and Goofy, but DONALD! *shot* I'm kidding. tongue.gif

But, yeah. No more ranting from me. Me done. *topic shall continue*

i heard that the Dissidia Cloud is closer to his old FFVII self than the moody kh2/AC version

the descriptions for cloud were always something about him being the silent hero. but hes evolved into that more now than he actually was when he made his debut. he was, like you said, arrogant. he was also uncaring, which is something Square seems to use vincent for now, and cloud was also very secular, and made alot of comments about wanting money and sex... actually, the sex comments where usually inputed by the player, but cloud was still thinking it biggrin.gif

I'm getting a little out of the loop with these new games because Kingdom Hearts 2 just didn't do it for me... It was fun in its own right, but there was nothing special about it. It didn't have the things that I thought made the first game so good. The new games seem like they'll be more like KH2 than KH1 and that's a definite put off for me. I also feel that the fandom's gotten more obnoxious. But then, they seem to really love the Org 13, which I thought was made up of very disappointing and flat characters. (No other fandom makes me say, "Are we playing the same game?" more.) And I know, I'm the only person who thinks Sora> Roxas.

I guess I'm still very much into KH1 because there's more to it, more to explore. But anything past that, and you could say I'm definitely faltering from both the games and fandom as a whole... I hope Birth By Sleep and 358/2 Days surprise me and stop making my KH!love seem more like fun hobby than bad habit. :/

I'm still into the first game because I never actually got around to beating it and there's still a lot left for me to learn.

I'm still into the second game because I love the controls (the camera= <3)

I'm still into the overall series because I'm in love with the original characters, it's one of two things that got me hooked on Final Fantasy, I love the story line and the character designs. I like the weapons, I like the voice actors, I like how it blends Disney and Final Fantasy.

I only falter from it out of boredom. Because I can't exactly play now that my PS2 is busted.

I still love it because if ever I'm bored with other games, I know I can just set aside some time to kick some heartless butts and never get tired of it!

Plus, I love the storyline, and the chracters, and now that I'm a fairly regular cosplayer, I've found a new way to love it haha, as well as figure buying biggrin.gif Very much so looking forward to the DS game, wanna play as Axel!!...and learn more about Xion *nods*

I still love the series, but since the games always come out SO slow, I get more bored and more bored because I keep playing the same games over and over. I can basically rehearse all the lines in KH 1 and 2 now... :/
