He probably loved his mom and i mean the past tense of love
maybe he moved on......
it looks like he seems more comfortable with other Disney characters THAN HIS OWN MOM

I'm pretty sure it was Xehanort's Heartless, considering that he then, eventually, followed her to the Destiny Islands and appeared there as the cloaked figure that talked to Sora in the secret place.

Isn't the cloaked figure in the secret place still up for speculation? I don't see why Xehanort's Heartless would be there, considering that the heartless was more intent about grabbing princesses and setting the Heartless loose. If he was there, he wouldn't spend that time warning Sora-he'd be taking off with Kairi before Sora had a chance to gain powers. I think Xehanort's heartless is outside of the overarching workings of the KH world and that his role ended with KHI. The person at the secret place seemed more like an organization member by his way of speech and movement. Actually, it didn't seem like a person at all...more like a memory projection.

On account of the huge amount of retcons seen in coded and possibly Birth by Sleep I won't disagree with you right now.

But both had the same voice actor in both versions and it's the cloaked guy's voice you hear right before Xehanort appears.

Well, considering that the same cloaked figure then appeared to Riku in Hollow Bastion, possessed his body, and then introduced himself as "Ansem, seeker of darkness," I'm pretty sure it was him.

you know, when you think about it, sora's mom must have been worried sick before everyone forgot him. i mean, your son disappears on a stormy night when a ton of these strange creatures start appearing on the island. she must have thought sora was dead or something! and later when everyone starts remembering sora, he's still missing. his mom may have thought he was dead, grieved, and then moved on, and BAM! sora's back on the island. what a life...

Technically, when Sora had his memories erased by Namine, everyone (like Kairi) forgot about him. It must have been strange for Sora's parents to not remember their son, but he still has a bedroom in their house.

*cough cough*

Its commonly referred to as the Hero's Journey. Classic storytelling, originating from a lot of old fairy tales, oddly enough what pretty much all of Disney's movies have been based off of up to this point. Anyways, yeah its sort of like a coming of age thing, kids or young adolescents being whisked away on an adventure for any known reason, (in this case to find his friends, and then gets reeled into a greater good vs evil kind of thing). Anyway, I guess they follow that whole trend of the adolescents being out on their own sort of thing, not being concerned about what's left behind or family or anything like that. Just a typical trend in story I suppose.

From that last clarification by StoryKing, we've exhausted any possible nuances that anyone can make about Sora's mom, or lack of a mom. Anyways, Sora's back on Destiny Island now so she should be happy. I'm sure he'll let her know that he's off to save the world again so she shouldn't miss him for dinner.
