Utada turns down Disney

Something like the song Rise would be my idea of a very acceptable substitute for the Planitb mix of Simple and Clean. VERY acceptable.
But probably only for that. I'd like something more mellow and deliver more impact as the main theme.

Bolded part. Not entirely true. Coded didn't even have an opening/ending song (in regards to something sung by Utada). The "intro" is just some talking and it gets straight into the game. The ending is just some random ending music. Re:Coded uses Simple and Clean for both opening and ending.

I hope that's a rhetorical question. Otherwise, that's stated right on the first post of this thread. Please read.

I'm surprised you haven't heard that song before
In terms of who would make a good replacement in my eyes if Utada indeed isn't going to be around to do it, I'm not really sure. Origa is great and all but I personally would have a hard time associating that style with anything except Ghost in the Shell. Kokia, Yui, or Miho Fukuhara would all make good replacements (although Yui has this country feel to her songs)... but in the end, if it wasn't Utada then it just wouldn't be the same. Could go completely off the walls with a group like Bennie K/Becca... that would be cool xD
Kokia
Miho Fukuhara
Yui
Bennie Becca
Spoiler tagged to keep the post shorter. Meh at only two media files :/

<--- Luka, "Hikari" cover
<-- Luka, GUMI, Rin and Len Kagamine, "Beautiful World" cover.
Wish I could post more songs! D: Just search around youtube and you'll find plenty, I think. Anyway, those are my suggestions for the next Kingdom Hearts theme if we can't get Utada back :3 Any of the Vocaloids would do (though knowing our luck we'll get Miku Hatsune since she's the most popular), but out of all of them I think that Luka would be the best fit. However, if they do get one, I hope they make it Len (Rin optional), but that's just because Len's my favorite :3

Kokia or Miho Fukuhara would be swell. Kokia can capture the surrealism of KH very well.

Who sings the English ver. of Birth by Sleep on PSP?

But I think Utada may somehow sing for KHIII, though it may be a long shot if she is still not interested. So till then, we can expect Simple & Clean to be use for KH: 3D.
But if we need a new singer if Utada can't return, I would suggest Jam Project (Who are in my mind are "The Queen of Japan"), who did both Garo & the theme to TF: Animated in both original & symphonic styles.

As previously stated at least a few times in the thread, we don't know officially that she's not coming back yet. For all we know, she very well good be coming back... AND THAT'S WHAT I'M CHOOSING TO BELIEVE.
Kingdom Hearts III certainly wouldn't be same without her.

Don't. Don't even say that in jest. That would just be far too horrible to imagine.
If we had to get someone else to sing, if Utada's hiatus lasts through the release of the next console release, I would prefer for it to be a Japanese artist that can sing in English just as well. BoA's been mentioned, and Bonnie Pink, and I'd throw my vote behind either of them, or both.
<--- BoA's "White Wishes", in case that influences anyone else.
As far as someone new to throw to the table, Rie Fu. She's the one behind the very first ending song to Bleach and her English is pretty much perfect.

I thought Crypton Future Media held the copyrights to Miku et al? But even so, a hidden Sonic in the game's opening would be much amusement. I think that Toyota owns Miku's American rights though, given that she starred in a car commercial for the Toyota Corolla.
<-- Yes I have too much time on my hands. Len singing a Justin Beiber song, poor kid. I guess it depends on the skill of the person using him, but he does sound mostly legible. I haven't heard any songs with his Appends, though... (Also, if you want to hear an excellent song by Len in English, look up "Livin La Vida Loca". But, for your sanity, press play and minimize the window. The song is awesome, but the video they chose for it is just... not. I won't link the video here because of that.)
<-- Now this is a Vocaloid that was actually released by Sony, Utatane Piko. That would be a bit less awkward, right?
A bonus for Piko is that he has a wide vocal range - he can go into the higher "female" range as well as this lower range. People who would complain that Piko's voice is too low can be assured that yes, he can go into a higher pitch.
