Heartless Sora? What IS Sora for the last part of KH1, all of CoM, and most of KH2? Rate Topic: -----

So yeah, Sora frees his heart as well as Kairi's in Hollow Bastion in Kingdom Hearts, creates Roxas and Namine, and becomes a Heartless.

Afterward, Kairi returns the Shadow that Sora now is to his original, human form. But is it a NEW body for his heart to inhabit? Or is he, much like Xehanort, a Heartless with his original form and memories?

I've always been a bit confused on the matter and any and all discussion and speculation would be HEAVILY appreciated :D

I'm under the impression that the light of Kairi's heart (being one of the Seven Princesses and all) restored Sora's human form, but -essentially- he was walking around without a body and soul (Roxas) and was simply a Heart with human form. I suppose you can argue that Sora's heart was so strong (which evidence in the series supports Sora's heart being very powerful) that he was able to function without a body and soul. Though, obviously, he didn't regain his true power and uncover his true potential until he reunited with Roxas.

You could go off on all sorts of hypotheses on this.

I decided to make one up off the bat because I haven't talked about souls and hearts and bodies for awhile in KH topics. My theory is that you can't have a soul without a body. So...hearts can float around without a container, but souls can't. Thus, all real people and Nobodies have bodies. That doesn't answer the question completely (I can come up with the why but not the how), but it's a start.

Technically, Sora is a Heartless until he and Roxas become one again. When he opened his heart and Roxas was born, he turned into a Heartless and maintained a Shadow form. Then, Kairi called out to him and he resumed his human form, but he was still a Heartless (kind of like Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness, maintained his human form). Then, Sora's heart showed a little instability in Kingdom Hearts II when he was able to turn into his Antiform, which was undoubtedly a pure Heartless. Now, since Sora and Roxas have reconnected, he is whole once again and no longer a Heartless or a Nobody.

If Sora had a new body, it would be one of the reasons he didn't need Roxas. Also, Kairi created a body like shell.

I think Sora had his heart along, because wasn't he carrying Ventus's heart?

Ven's heart was in Roxas.

Now, Sora only his heart now because he "sacrificed" Ven's, so it was possible to become human again

He didn't sacrifice Ven. If Ven wasn't in Sora's heart, he would have still changed back.

In my opinion, Sora restored his human form because he had not gone too deep in the darkness and he still had a hold of his heart.
I also agree that Kairi's existence as a princess of heart help Sora regained his human form.

I agree Ven's heart was in Roxas but also Xion, too. Am I right? If I am wrong then how can you explain the events that happened in 358 2 days, when Xion faced Xigbar.

Well, in the story, Xion had Sora's face for one part, which was really creepy. So, Xion might be a mixture of Sora's and Ventus's memories.

Ven's heart didn't necessarily shared by Roxas with Xion.
Xion's been absorbing Sora's , and eventually, Roxas' memories which made her to have connection with Sora/Roxas.
That's why Xigbar saw her as Ven.

Roxas is Sora's nobody(his body). Xion is a puppet made by Vexen. Ven's heart stayed inside Sora's body which turned into Roxas. Xion is connected to Roxas and Sora(who are both connected to Ven), Xigbar saw Xion as Ven.
