A thought came about in the forum about the great fortune if Birth by Sleep was a release as a download for the PS3 Network. The game would be playable on the system with improved graphics for HD televisions. The idea was a stretch considering Square Enix's plummeting status and the focus on mobile gaming and big titles like FFVS13 and FF13-2. But an announcement by Sony may put a HD BBS remake into possible realms.
Sony announce PSP Remastered Series which remakes PSP titles into PS3 playable content. A video presentation of Monster Hunter 3 gave a perfect example of heighten quality, practically imitating the PS2 system, maybe slightly better. With more games attending to this list Square Enix should also take advantage with their titles, more specifically Birth by Sleep.
What is to gain? Birth by Sleep is a extraordinary title and in my opinion second best behind the original Kingdom Hearts. But being on the PSP disallowed a lot of people to play it due to the PSP's lack of content and a lot (including myself) won't spend the money just to play one game. If BBS were on the PS2, it would be a powerhouse with sales...but the PS2 is dead. Repackaging BBS for PS3 (And maybe add the content from Final Mix) will expand the audience and garner sales that may trickle a little light back to the trouble company. The majority of people who owned a PS2 owns a PS3 and most of those people follow the Kingdom Hearts series. Makes sense when you think about it but everyone knows Square Enix's history of not taking the opportunities for god knows what...ALA FINAL MIX.
But I want to know how you guys think. Is this a slimmer of light for a possible HD release? Is this false hope?

I think that there is a slight chance that BBS will be remade. But then I think back to Nomura(?) saying that he did not want to make a digital download version, and then made all PSPGo users (not me) super mad. Also too, I don't think the game, particularly the controls and the battle system, would transfer over well. I mean, they don't feel like something you would use on a big console. I'm already upset by the idea. I don't wanna have to pay more money for a better version of a game that I already have. I really, really don't want that to be the case with BBS.

It's really up in the air though. A chance, yes. CoM was remade on the PS2.

I feel that it is unlikely this will happen but one can hope. There wasn't a push for a digital copy of the PSP game, would Squenix push for a digital copy of a remake instead? Although if they did do this remake then it would appear more likely that a KH3 could be coming to the PS3.

A bloody brilliant proposal. I'd be excited, even though I already own and play BbS on the PSP. Nomura's overworked, which means the possibility of any KH game appearing on the PSN is low, but I now believe that's a poor excuse to bypass putting BbS (and the PS2 KH games) on PSN. He's got other people on his team-surely they can helm HD projects.

More people being exposed to the past and present of KH is a good thing and you'll need this renewal of the fan base to render KHIII a best-selling successor. Not just good-selling, but best-selling. The trouble is with SE is that their strategy has so much basis on the Japanese market that unless someone was very forward-thinking and making a marketing strategy on a more international level, PSN will continue to be a back burner for our favourite games. It bothers me that KH continues to be released on a mix of different consoles. It gives me the impression that this is a random developer's experiment. As a consumer, I don't like it. I'm not a gaming fanatic and I don't own 3+ consoles to satisfy my gaming fix. I've gone off topic a bit, but yes, they SHOULD release BbS on PSN, yet given past history, I don't think they would.

Even crazier idea, perhaps once 3 is out they'll release a HD Collection on launch so you can get BbS, 1 and 2 in HD. I think it'd be more likely to see a 1 and 2 remake at first, maybe Bbs will be hd packaged with volumes 1 and 2.

Agreed; it's more likely for 1 and 2 to appear first because they are PS2 games that aged really well and so would make a nice transition. Churning out old PS1 and occasionally PS2 games as DLC is a trend that I hope will extend towards KH.

I know I'm late. But it would be cool to have a PS3 version to the game. Better graphics. And throwing in the KH1 command system. I'm a fan of the playlist style.

Funny thing is Monster Hunter 3G Tri came out a month before BBS, yet only Monster Hunter got the PSP remaster.

I heard about that. But if they ever want to make a BBS console remake. They better change the controls. Possible go back to the KH2 command list.

The BBS command list is the best in the series so far. Changing the commands doesn't make sense at all considering the only thing that needs to be changed is the camera control, and anything other than that is wasting time considering Square is always busy.

Well, we already getting a HD collection of KH and KH2 in the future. I'm hoping for a nintendo wii, ps2 or ps3 remake of 358/2 days or Birth By Sleep. With new extra content.

COM was remade because it wasn't in 3D. BBS just needs a remaster.

Maybe once KH3 is more than a nebulous idea we'll get some HD collections going down. Would be a great way to get the final mix versions released in all territories.

To date, what kind of games have been ported from the PSP to the PS3? I'm not a hard-core gamer, but it just feels like PSP releases don't end up on PSN, which if I'm correct, would be an indicator of how high a chance of BBS coming to PSN.

I would like to see how the command system in BBS work on a console instead of a handheld. It would be nice to have a remake of Days on PS3 considering the co-op possibilities.

In my opinion, it would be nice if they remade all of the Kingdom Hearts games for the PS3 because, to me, it would be cool to see the game in CGI. Also, sometimes the characters look lifeless, so if they put it in a CGI form, the character may not look lifeless anymore, and it will make you feel like your in the game. But this is just my opinion.

It would be the same, just that the screen isn't on the controller. lol

Yeah I prefer non-handheld games, where I can play it on a much larger screen.
