Even though Square originally wanted Mickey Mouse (Disney) as the main character of KH, Tetsuya Nomura wanted a human as the main character. He created Sora so therefore, he is a Square character.

Good question, thus Sora was never featured in any disney movies, or stories before kh was created, therefore, Sora is just a square character implemented into a disney game to help out. Hence final fantasy characters are in the kingdom hearts games, but Disney does not own Final Fantasy.

Sora certainly FEELS like a Disney character, though. If he was less human, and more animal, he'd certainly fit in with the rest of the Disney crowd. Sora is pretty two-dimensional to me. Lovably so, but 2D all the same.

In my opinion Disney AND Square own him due to it being a joint project between the two companies.

In my opinion, Sora is a Square character because he was created by Nomura.

He's both. But Square have more rights to the character since its originally theirs. But Disney owns him as well due to their collaboration.

Not exactly, it means what's been said.

Disney owns Sora, its that straight forward. They can do whatever they want with him, even though he was created by Tetsuya Nomura over at Square.

Thats why they were able to make that one mobile game I think everyone tried to forget about a few years ago that only starred Sora on an island.
