Yeah, he doesn't have the same energy that any of the other actors that played him in the past.

Without the lip synching, it just kills things for me. That's why I can hardly watch some of the Re:CoM cutscenes, totally throws me out of the mood and makes me realize that there's a disconnect between the character on screen and their voice...

Agreed. Though, good scripting is pretty much key to making English voice acting (and good voice direction) on Japanese lip syncing work...which...Re:CoM...didn't have. :| But yeah...reanimated lip flaps are preferred.
