Kingdom Hearts 3 Will Now Run on Unreal Engine 4

Kingdom Hearts III

A new Famitsu interview with Kingdom Hearts series director Tetsuya Nomura has revealed that Kingdom Hearts 3 will now run on Unreal Engine 4.

Following his previous interview with Famitsu, Nomura stated that the team were having problems with it’s current engine (which was Luminous) and they were focusing on writing scenario and selecting worlds in the meantime.

Square Enix in 2012, signed a long term licensing deal with Epic Games to use their Unreal 3 and 4 engines.

We will provide the full interview once it’s tranlsated.

    9 , because :

    - Wii U and PC port is now possible .

    - Easy access to a lot of useful tools and development.

The only thing that may take time is to move all the assets already done for the Luminous Engine.

  7. Nevs Ninavi Says:

oh well, Luminous is way better engine but Unreal Engine 4 is way easier to make games on.

I can NOT wait for kingdom hearts 3. When I heard that it was being worked on, I was blown away. Definitely going to buy an xbox one just for that game, unless the engine can be allowed for Wii U
