Square Enix has announced that longtime Final Fantasy XV’s director Tetsuya Nomura will be stepping down as director of the game while Hajime Tabata serve as the new director for the game.

The departure will enable Tetsuya Nomura to work on his projects, namely Kingdom Hearts III.

Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda said this in a press release excerpt:

“Hereafter, [Nomura] will be focusing his efforts on the production of titles that can only be made possible by Nomura, himself, and delivering products that exceed the quality of past titles, starting with another one of his representative projects, Kingdom Hearts III. Square Enix will continue to work on these titles with the best staff formation in an effort to deliver them to everyone as soon as possible and appreciates your continued support.”

Nomura: *to FFXV production team* “OKAY GUYS THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE LITERALLY LISTED RIGHT THERE, THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY YOU GUYS CAN SCREW THIS UP NOW. JUST DO AS I TOLD YOU AND EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY.”

    FFXV team: “Okay sir!”

*Nomura turns towards KHIII; looks back; FFXV production team’s office is on fire and they failed in following every instruction*

Nomura: “… This is gonna take awhile.”
